Venus Viva uses Nano-Fractional radiofrequency technology that works by delivering radiofrequency energy through an array of small pins to the dermis. The dermis is the middle layer of the skin and is composed of up to 70% collagen, an interconnective tissue that’s responsible for your skin’s structure, firmness, and elasticity. The dermis also contains (among other things), elastin, responsible for skin’s elasticity, as well as fibroblasts, the main connective tissue cells. By delivering radiofrequency heat to the dermis, Venus Viva damages existing collagen and stimulates your body’s natural repair mechanisms, which result in the growth of new collagen. The new collagen fibers create a tighter, more compact skin matrix, leaving you with tighter, smoother, more even-toned skin.

Q: What happens during the procedure?

Thirty minutes before your Venus Viva procedure, a technician will cleanse your face with alcohol and apply topical numbing cream to increase your comfort during treatment. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, you will relax in our treatment chair while a technician uses a handheld device to methodically administer the treatment over your face and neck. Most treatments take about 30 minutes, plus 30 minutes of numbing. Most patients report minimal discomfort during treatment and no pain after treatment.

Q: When can I return to normal activities?

You should be able to return to normal activities immediately but you should expect to see pinpoints for a day or so and a mild sunburn-like coloration for a few days. Redness in the skin can be covered with BB cream immediately and makeup can be used one day after treatment. Treated areas will develop a micro-crust (they will start to scab and feel rough to the touch), but the skin should be completely healed by day 3 post-treatment.

Q: When will I see results?

Some patients see immediate results, but we recommend a series of 3-5 treatments spaced about 3 weeks between treatments for optimal results. You’ll notice improved results as your body produces new collagen in response to the treatments.

Q: Are results permanent?

While the effects of Venus Viva treatments are long lasting, nothing can stop the natural aging process. Periodic maintenance treatments may be needed to help keep your skin looking fresh.

Q: Am I a good candidate for Venus Viva?

Venus Viva is safe for patients of all ages and skin types, including those with darker skin tones. It is effective at improving a wide range of skin conditions, so it’s a good treatment for those patients who wish to improve their skin’s smoothness and texture, tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of acne scarring and stretch marks.
