Thermage "non-surgical facelift"
Thermage, also know as ThermaLift or ThermaCool, is a new skin tightening
treatment that has been featured on Oprah, Good Morning America, CNN,
and in many magazines such as Vogue and Allure. Thermage delivers
advanced radio frequency energy into the skin, heating the dermis
(lower layers) while cooling and protecting the epidermis. The deep
sustained uniform heat to the deeper skin tissue results in contraction
and tightening of the skin and collagen fibers and increased production
of collagen over time. The tightening of the tissue smoothes out wrinkles
and loose skin and creates a more youthful appearance.
The length of the procedure varies depending on areas treated, but
usually ranges from 45 minutes to an hour. An anesthetic cream applied
one hour before the treatment (patients can do this at home) can help
make the treatment more comfortable. Local anesthetic may also be
used. Some patients prefer to have this procedure performed under
sedation, especially if they are combining Thermage with another procedure.
Minimal redness may occur immediately after, but usually disappears
shortly thereafter. Some swelling may occur, but this is temporary
and usually subsides within 2-5 days.
