What Cosmetic Plastic Surgery is About?

Dr. Marcus’ Philosophy

Plastic Surgery is not just about looks – how large your breasts are, how smooth we can make your face, or how flat your tummy is after a tummy tuck. Plastic Surgery is about happiness – how you feel.

Plastic Surgery is a medical art form which allows us to alter those facial and body areas that have been draining a person’s happiness. For instance, most breast augmentation patients seek surgery because their small (or large or sagging) breasts make them feel less feminine or less appealing to their spouses, or disproportionate whenever they try on clothes. This becomes a negative whenever they think about it, and it seems to drain their happiness. It makes them feel bad. It is the same with a sagging or aging face. Many women look in the mirror and are shocked and dismayed that the person staring back at them doesn’t look like the person they feel they are. They feel vibrant and healthy and young, but they hate looking in the mirror or having pictures taken. That’s a problem. It makes a person feel unhappy. A facelift can restore your face to the younger you, and that fear of having a photo taken disappears. Your happiness and the way you feel about yourself is no longer being denied by a mirror. Plus, I am convinced that there will be far fewer car accidents caused by women simulating a facelift pulling on their skin while looking in the rearview mirror! Just kidding, but you know who you are…

The idea of Plastic Surgery makes some of us feel vain. Well, if a person stands in front of the mirror all day and feels the need to look perfect to be accepted, he or she might very well be vain. Cosmetic Surgery is not for them because it will never make them happy. They will still feel the same way after a procedure because theirs may be a self-worth issue that cannot be solved with surgery.

Most of us, however, just want to look as good as we feel or erase a body imperfection that bothers us. DON’T FORGET: the happier you are, the happier you make those around you. It’s just a fact. Therefore, having a procedure done that makes you feel better about yourself will be reflected onto all those you come into contact with – especially your family. A happy mom is a good thing for everyone. I am not trying to talk you into surgery. I just want you to know that most likely you are not vain, and you will not be the only happy recipient of your Plastic Surgery procedure. I have seen this literally, a thousand times.

Lastly, from a philosophical point of view, if you see my website or any advertisement, that makes you feel you need Plastic Surgery, then I have failed you and I apologize. The last thing I want to do is make you feel self-conscious about your face or body. On the other hand, if you are researching a procedure and already looking for a Plastic Surgeon, I would consider it a privilege to be your Plastic Surgeon.
