Ear Reshaping (Otoplasty)

3d proceduresMany people who think their ears are too big learn that it is not the size of their ears, but the fact that they stick out that bothers them. This can be a problem, especially for children, who can be easy targets for teasing. The sooner this problem is corrected, the better. This procedure can be performed as early as age four or five, or any time as an adult. This procedure provides dramatic, immediate results that last a lifetime. More about this procedure

Purpose To correct overly prominent ears. It will improve the shape and position of the ears.
Length of Procedure 1-2 hours
Anesthesia Local anesthesia for adults
Local with sedation/ general for children
In or Outpatient Outpatient in private, in-office surgical suite (fully certified)

Although there are different approaches to this problem, the most common one involves reshaping cartilage from behind the ear and then resuturing the ear. This pulls the ear closer to the head. All the work is done behind the ear so scars are usually unnoticeable or hidden in the creases.

The procedure usually takes about one to two hours and is performed in the in-office surgical suite under local or sedation. After surgery, the ears are covered with a dressing. Usually any soreness or discomfort can be easily controlled with medication. Most patients can resume regular activities a day or two after surgery.
