Injectables: Restylane, Radiance, & Sculptra

Restylane

Restylane is a safe, natural, long-lasting wrinkle filler that has been used in Canada and Europe for the last decade, and has just recently been approved for use in the United States. Restylane is a smooth, clear gel that "flows" when it is injected and goes in very smoothly, and has been shown to maintain its results for six to 12 months. Highly mobile areas like the lips tend to require at least a touch-up treatment after about six months. Areas where there is less movement may only require additional treatment after 12 months. No skin test is required prior to treatment. Risk of allergic reaction is rare.

Similar to Restylane, Radiance is also a soft filler. While it is reported to last for 2-5 years, there can be some lumping or clumping, and small microspheres may move to other areas of the body. No skin test is required before treatment. Little risk of allergic reaction.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a safe, long-lasting injectable product that stimulates the growth of collagen and restores youthful contours to the face. Sculptra provides an increase in skin thickness of the areas where volume (fat) has been lost, helping restore fullness to the face for a more natural, youthful appearance. Sculptra is not made from animal sources and does not require a skin test. The effects of Sculptra are long-lasting. In a clinical study, increases in skin thickness lasted up to two years in most patients.
