Breast Reduction

3d proceduresLarge, oversized breasts can dominate a woman's appearance and give her a top-heavy or even obese appearance. They can also be a source of physical discomfort distorting posture, and causing problems such as back, neck and shoulder pain, as well as headaches and breathing difficulties.

Breast reduction surgery can reduce the size of and reshape oversized breasts by removing excess skin and underlying tissue. If you have large, sagging breasts you may also be a good candidate. However, if your breasts are sagging, but are not overly large, a breast lift might be all you need. More about this procedure.

Purpose To reduce the size and heaviness of oversized breasts. It will also lift the breasts and create a more proportioned overall appearance.
Length of Procedure 3-4 hours
Anesthesia General anesthesia
In or Outpatient Outpatient in private, in-office surgical suite (fully certified)

During the surgery, breast tissue, fat and skin are removed. The nipple and areola are then moved to a higher position. Skin that is located above the nipple pre-surgery is drawn down and together to give a new shape to the breast. Liposuction might also be employed during this procedure.

The physical changes in the breasts can be so significant with surgery that the shoulder, back and neck pain relief can be dramatic. Fortunately, complications are unusual, but can include infection, bleeding, loss or change in sensation, asymmetry in breast shape and delayed healing.

Most women can return to work in one to two weeks depending on the physical demands of their jobs.
