Botox Injections

Botox and Dysport injections (dilute neurotoxins), are one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed due to their ease of use and supreme effectiveness in treating common types of wrinkles. Nancy Honsa, our Skin Center MedSpa’s Nurse Practitioner, will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. The actual injection process generally takes about 10-20 minutes.

Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved injections that work best in the upper third of the face to temporarily smooth frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal bands of wrinkles across the forehead, and crow’s feet at the corners of the eye. It can also be used in the chin and nasal area as well to reduce muscle tightness and improve facial appearance.

To smooth facial wrinkles by injecting relaxer into muscles. These solutions temporarily weaken the muscles that cause wrinkles.

10 to 15 minutes.

None required.

In-office procedure (no recovery time necessary)

During the procedure, a small amount of Botox or Dysport is injected directly into the muscles that create the wrinkles. Repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years are an underlying cause of frown lines and crow’s feet, and these treatments allow the muscles to relax by preventing small muscle contractions in these areas. Habitual muscle contractions are blocked, but you don’t lose the ability to show expression in the treated areas. You’ll look like yourself—only with less noticeable frown lines and crow’s feet.

Clinical results typically last from three to six months. After that you may wish to return for another injection. It has been our experience that with every treatment, the effect of these relaxers appears to last longer, often up to several months. Botox and Dysport are used in extremely small amounts and does not spread from the injection site so you will be able to return to full activity immediately.

Botox and Dysport complications are minimal, however, some patients can experience slight bruising, or in rare instances a slight, temporary drooping of the eyelid. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or who have a neurologic disease should not use Botox, Dysport or any other neurotoxin relaxer.

Cost per treatment area varies, but these are good guidelines:

  • Frown lines: $280-$350
  • Forehead: $140-$280
  • Crow’s Feet: $280-$420
